Infertility

It can be a struggle for some couples to fall pregnant, and not conceiving after a year of unprotected timed intercourse is known as infertility.

Fertility depends on:

  • your age
  • functioning Fallopian tubes, ovaries and uterus
  • previous pelvic inflammatory disease or sexually transmitted infections
  • your overall health

Treatment options for infertility:

These depend on the cause (if any) of infertility. It may include fertility medications to help with ovulation, surgery to remove scarring, endometriosis, fibroids or polyps.

Assisted reproductive techniques (ART) include in vitro fertilisation (IVF), the use of donor eggs or sperm, intrauterine insemination (IUI), or intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
