Dr Brett Locker was born and grew up in Newcastle. After graduating from Medicine at Sydney University he later returned to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist training. Dr Locker has worked in Darwin and Port Macquarie. Wanting to broaden his Gynaecological practice, he returned once again to his home town in 2005, now being a Staff Specialist and Director of Gynaecology at John Hunter Hospital.
He also runs a dynamic private practice, experienced in all areas of gynaecological practice, and is a specialist in bladder and prolapse issues (urogynaecology). He also has a keen interest in menopausal medicine, bleeding problems, abnormal PAP smears, together with contraception and fertility issues.
Dr Locker operates at Lingard Private Hospital, Merewether, and has been the chair of the Medical Advisory Committee for most of his time back in Newcastle.
Dr Locker regularly offers much needed specialist services in developing countries such as Kenya, Cameroon and most recently Bangladesh. He enjoys a busy family life with 5 daughters, church involvement and is a regular at his local parkrun.
Dr Locker continues to enjoy his chosen speciality where he has been able to help thousands of women through difficult issues with sensitivity and ever updated skills, developed over decades of experience. Dr Locker and his team strive to achieve the best possible outcome for the women that attend the practice.
